Technology Toolkit

I. Building the Teacher’s Technology Toolkit

The Technology Toolkit course is designed to help teachers develop a set of
tools they might use regularly in and out of their classroom to enhance teaching
and learning. The format will be similar to last year, but the
content and topics may change. This workshop is designed for users from
healthy skeptic to novice to more experienced technology integrator, and
specifically, those who do not have a specific challenge in mind, but want to
better understand what is available for classroom use that does not entail a steep
learning curve. Some of the tools examined might be Web 2.0 tools such as
blogs, wikis, and podcasts, social tagging sites for group projects, screen casting
software to create quick tutorials, VoiceThread for online exchanges and projects,
and online assessment tools. Another important objective of this workshop is to
help teachers understand how to best integrate these tools into one’s curriculum
so that it is a seamless part of the learning experience.
