The Proficiency Model

I have long been intrigued by the “proficiency model” in which students must master a topic before moving along to the next item. (I fondly remember the experience of working through SRA’s in grade school.) Technology can clearly provide a rich structure for such a system, and I am impressed that Mike was able to run an “ABC” Advanced Placement calculus course using such a principle.

By the way, the MAA’s WeBWork is an intriguing tool that we will try in various courses next year at Andover.
